Schawk Recognized By Computerworld As A 2011 Honors Laureate Award Honors Visionary Applications of Information Technology

Chicago, IL

Schawk, Inc. (NYSE: SGK), a leading provider of brand development and deployment services, enabling companies of all sizes to connect their brands with consumers, announced IDG’s Computerworld Honors Program has recognized Schawk as a 2011 Honors Laureate in the Business Responsiveness category. The annual award program honors visionary applications of information technology promoting positive social, economic and educational change.

For over two decades, The Computerworld Honors Program has recognized individuals and organizations that create and use information technology to promote and advance public welfare, contribute to the greater good of society and change the world for the better.

“The number and quality of nominations this year were very inspiring and demonstrate how valuable IT is to community change,” said John Amato, publisher, Computerworld. “Computerworld is very proud to name the 2011 class of Laureates and showcase their initiatives benefiting society through innovative uses of IT.”

Chairmen and CEOs from the world’s foremost information technology companies support this program through their participation on the Chairmen’s Committee. Chairmen’s Committee Advisors and Computerworld editorial leaders evaluated the 2011 Laureates.

“We are honored to have Schawk’s proprietary Copy Management System (CMS) technology awarded for its innovative excellence by this prestigious program,” said Stephen Kaufman, chief technology officer for Schawk. “To be recognized for driving agility into the complex world of the packaging supply chain from a respected jury of IT business leaders is significant.”

Added Kaufman, “Schawk’s Copy Management System leverages iWay Software, a division of Information Builders, to give brand owners a ‘single source of truth’ for all copy in ‘multiple languages’ and automates it in a manner that improves efficiency and message consistency while reducing risk. We believe our solution directly correlates to consumer safety by reducing the risk of inaccurate or outdated product data entering the market.”

Acting as a central repository for all work-in-process and approved copy, the CMS provides a reliable location for all of an organization’s copy owners and approvers to input and approve copy in all required languages. This includes legal statements, UPC symbols, marketing language, ingredient statements, food safety warnings, product use instructions, as well as information from logistics, manufacturing, engineering and regulatory departments. Where information does not originate in the CMS, the CMS can be integrated with existing data sources.

The Computerworld Honors awards will be presented at the Annual Laureates Medal Ceremony & Awards Gala on June 20, 2011, at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C.

Founded by International Data Group (IDG) in 1988, The Computerworld Honors Program is governed by the not-for-profit Computerworld Information Technology Awards Foundation.
