Baby Food Maker
Takes Steps to Improve Brand Consistency
When one of the world’s most trusted names in
baby food and baby care wanted to improve brand consistency on its
packaging and simultaneously reduce costs, they turned to Schawk
for advice. Schawk helped Gerber develop and implement a continuous
improvement program for print production that would ensure consistency
and improve shelf impact while reducing carton
workflow costs.
Schawk fingerprinted presses and attended
press runs, working closely with Gerber’s printers
to improve plate, ink and overall print quality. Completing this
process allowed Schawk to
establish detailed technical specifications for files, films, proofs
and plates for Gerber’s packaging artwork. Implementing universal
printability standards added a new level of scientific precision
to Gerber’s quality controls.
By taking the steps necessary to improve brand
consistency, Gerber improved its ability to market
its brand. Schawk’s workflow expertise enabled Gerber to reduce
prepress costs for cereal cartons
by 60%. What used to require 150 total sets of film, now requires
only 49. This cost-savings frees up funds enabling Gerber to run
additional promotions during the year, representing dollars much
better spent… reaching more babies through more Moms.
