its Capabilities in Mexico
Who helped one of the world’s largest manufacturers
of liner board improve their printing quality in Mexico? Jefferson
Smurfit reached out to Schawk for a technical analysis of the print
conditions at their plant in Mexico. The goal was to push their
process color work as far as possible within the technical constraints
imposed by the process and substrate. Jefferson Smurfit also required
true-to-life color proofs that accurately represented what would
be achievable on-press.
Schawk provided graphics consulting and prepress,
first analyzing the plant’s printing capabilities before producing
film negatives and prepress proofs. The result? Jefferson Smurfit’s
process color work in Mexico is no longer characterized by the typical
symptoms of low line screen rulings on linerboard. Process color
work now has greater highlight detail and smoother vignettes.
Print quality is better than ever, color proofing
is more accurate and reproducible with technical consistency. Jefferson
Smurfit successfully increased its print production gamut capabilities
allowing them to deliver a higher quality product to their customers
while at the same time eliminating inconsistencies on-press. This
gives Jefferson Smurfit an important competitive in this market.
