giant
repackages gravure workflow
Who helped Unilever Bestfoods North America improve
quality standards for gravure printing,
cut time-to-market, reduce costs and achieve recognition for the
best gravure-printed package in 2003? Three of Schawk’s operating
units seamlessly combined efforts to do separations, engraving,
and cylinder proofing while working closely with printers to achieve
these gains.
By developing new workflow standards, Schawk has made
it possible for Unilever to achieve the highest quality reproduction
of their packaging that prints via gravure, regardless of the printing
substrate or ink system. Not only is absolute consistency among
all gravure printers now possible, but it also gives Unilever greater
freedom in the concept design phase, allowing the company to truly
take advantage of new shrinkwrap and foil-laminated substrates.
With this new process in place, Unilever Bestfoods’
Bertolli Dinner for Two packaging picked up “Best of the Best”
distinction at this year’s GAA (Gravure Association of America)
Golden Cylinder Awards. The packaging was also a winner in the Packaging
Film Category, where its sharp images and beautiful vignettes were
recognized.
Unilever Bestfoods now counts on one provider—Schawk—to
manage their packaging production needs along the entire gravure
workflow, all the
way up to cylinder engraving and proofing. |
